The following scholarships are managed by The Dayton Montgomery County Scholarship Program.  All applications can be picked up and submitted through your high school guidance counselor.


Altrusa International - Dayton Chapter Scholarship

C.J. McLin Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Fund Information:
Established in 1992, this fund encourages graduating seniors of Montgomery County to complete college studies at an accredited institution of higher learning in Ohio, or at a United Negro College Fund (UNCF) school in the United States. The fund is dedicated to the memory of this 22-year State of Ohio Representative.

Charles A., Dehl L., and Katherine Funkhouser Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Fund Information:
The fund was estabilshed by Jeanne Funkhouser-Reeder, with the support of her husband, Vern W. Reeder, to assist needy and deserving graduates of the Dayton Public Schools.

Award:
2-$1,000 one time awards
2-$1,000 renewable awards

Colonel White High School Education Major Scholarship

Scholarship Fund Information:
The fund was established by a group of Colonel White HS retired teachers to provide financial assistance to a student graduating from Colonel White (
Thurgood Marshall Academic Magnet Academy effective January 1, 2008) who is majoring in education.

Daniel L. Hickey Memorial Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Fund Information:
The fund was established in 1998 by the children of Dan L. Hickey, a former teacher at Roth and Colonel White High Schools in Dayton. The fund provides financial assistance to Dayton Public High School graduates pursuing an education degree at a four-year Ohio public college or university.

Doris H. Wilson Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Fund Information:
Established in 1997, the fund grants scholarships to graduating Montgomery County high-school seniors who plan to attend a two- or four-year school in Ohio. This fund honors Doris Wilson, the founder of Multi-Cultural Supporters.

Paul R. and Frieda M. Miller Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Fund Information:
The fund was established to enable a deserving student to attend an accredited college to pursue a career in teaching.  Paul and Frieda Miller were graduates of historically Black institutions.  Both were educators, and Frieda taught in the Dayton Public Schools.  The Millers, who came from rural communities, found that education and hard work are the keys to successful careers and lives.  Their legacy is to provide the opportunity for others to become educated and successful.

Scott Neal Simpson Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Fund Information:
Established in 1999, the fund memorializes this gifted athlete and scholar by awarding scholarships to Montgomery County high-school graduates attending an accredited college or university. Scott Simpson died after lapsing into a diabetic coma while in his sophomore year at The Ohio State University where he majored in rehabilitation therapy.

Twentig Incorporated Endowment Fund (Willis-Bing-Davis Scholarship)

Scholarship Fund Information:
The fund was established in 1990 to pay tribute to this son of Dayton who has achieved acclaim as an internationally famous visual artist. This was fund was established by Twentig, Inc., a volunteer women's organization.

Award:
$1,000

Selection Criteria:
African-American students majoring in visual and/or graphic art

Wahid Abdullah Memorial Fund

Scholarship Fund Information:
The fund was established in 1997 by friends to honor Wahid Abdullah, a 17-year-old academic student at Colonel White High School, whose life abruptly ended in violence at the hands of another teen.

Graduating Montgomery County high school senior planning to pursue studies in communications or journalism
